What Is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure where excess skin and fat in the eyelids are removed and the skin around the eyelid is tightened. This procedure eliminates the phenomena of sagging eyelids. Blepharoplasty can be performed either for the upper eyelid or lower eyelid or both simultaneously. The type of blepharoplasty required for the patient can be decided based on the unique condition of the patient.
Another important point that Dr Siddharth Sakhiya, the Board-certified Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon of Celebre Aesthetics, Surat would like to bring up here is that there are two types of Blepharoplasty:
Cosmetic Blepharoplasty: This is performed when the droopiness of the eyelids hampers the attractiveness of the eyes.
Functional Blepharoplasty: This is performed when the excessive sagging eyelids are interfering with the vision of the patient. The patient is unable to see properly due to the drooping eyelids then a functional Blepharoplasty is recommended.
Whether you need a Functional Blepharoplasty or Cosmetic Blepharoplasty, Celebre Aesthetics aims to fulfil your goals with Dr Siddharth Sakhiya’s expertise and modern technology.

Dr Siddharth Sakhiya, the Board-certified Plastic, Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeon has laid out some basic criteria for a person to be eligible for this surgery. Although Blepharoplasty is a minimally invasive surgery, Celebre Aesthetics, Surat only accepts those patients who fit into the following criteria:
The person who wants to get rid of sagging eyelids to improve the attractiveness of the eyes.
An overall healthy person.
Candidate has realistic expectations from the surgery.

What To Expect At The Consultation With Dr Siddharth Sakhiya?
Dr Siddharth Sakhiya’s one on one consultations is a detailed discussion with the patients. He asks the patient about their expectations, desires, goals, understands their medical history and explains the procedure and risks to them.
You will be asked about the problems you are facing due to the sagginess of the eyelids. Dr Sakhiya will also want to know whether you have taken a vision test recently, this will help in establishing whether you need a Functional Blepharoplasty or Cosmetic Blepharoplasty. Pictures of your eyes and eyelids will be taken from multiple angles as part of your case history. Our consultations also involve noting down your medical history and any allergies that might affect the surgery. At Celebre Aesthetics, Surat the consultation ends only after the patient and Dr Siddharth Sakhiya are on the same page and there are no doubts in the mind of the patient.
What To Expect Before The Blepharoplasty?
Since Blepharoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure there aren’t too many preparations necessary before the surgery from the patient’s perspective. Dr Siddharth Sakhiya may ask you to undergo a couple of routine blood and urine tests in order to establish basic parameters for the surgery.
But other than that, no special preparation is required from the patient’s side.
How Is The Blepharoplasty Performed At Celebre Aesthetics?
Blepharoplasty is a short surgical procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis at Celebre Aesthetics in Surat. Our Operation Theatre is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and Dr Siddharth Sakhiya, Board-certified, Plastic, Cosmetic and Hair Transplant Surgeon performs the surgery with the utmost care for patient safety.
First, the patient is administered with local anaesthesia to numb the sensation around the eyes. In very rare cases where multiple cosmetic procedures are scheduled for the patient, general anaesthesia may be administered.
The next step is making incisions on the eyelid. If this is only an upper eyelid surgery, then an incision will be made in the natural creases of the upper eyelid. If you need a lower eyelid surgery then incisions will be made just below the eyelash line. In case both the eyelids need blepharoplasty then incisions will be made accordingly.
Once the incisions are made Dr Siddharth Sakhiya will proceed further and redistribute extra fat or remove the excess skin, fat or muscle from the eyelids. Post removal of excess fat and skin, the incisions will be closed skillfully so that the scar is negligible. Apart from removing the excess fat and skin, Dr Siddharth Sakhiya of Celebre Aesthetics, Surat works on contouring the eyelids to enhance the patient’s facial features. Hence, the patient gets not only rejuvenated, younger-looking eyes but also beautified eyelids.
What Is The Recovery Process For Blepharoplasty?
The recovery process for Blepharoplasty is not cumbersome at all. Bruising, redness and swollen eyelids are normal after this procedure. Dr Siddharth Sakhiya will prescribe a topical antibiotic ointment to reduce the swelling and redness. Some painkiller medication may also be prescribed.
You will be asked to apply cold packs to your eyes continuously (10-15 mins for every hour you are awake) for the first 48 hours after surgery. Then slowly the frequency may be reduced. The Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr Sakhiya may even ask you to switch to warm compresses 48-72 hours after the surgery. It is important for you to follow all the instructions carefully and sincerely for the best results.
In case you wear spectacles then you may begin wearing them at any point of time after the surgery. Do not wear contact lenses until the swelling subsides completely.
Ask Dr Siddharth Sakhiya for the right time to start wearing contact lenses (since it varies from patient to patient).
The surgical sutures are dissolvable ones and will naturally dissolve within 4-7 days of the surgery. Hence you do not need to worry about that.
Experiencing mild discomfort and pain around the eyes for a week is completely natural after Blepharoplasty. The basic recovery time where patients are advised to rest is 3 days after that patients can resume their routine but need to be careful not to perform any physically strenuous activities. Heavy exercises and physical activities may be resumed after 2-3 weeks.
